Calliope NOW offers created by Rhonda Carol; an integrative technique focusing on the mind-body
connection combining the cutting-edge workout techniques of the West with the concentration, focus and relaxation techniques of the East. Holistic Fitness
stresses total mental focus, being in the 'now moment' while moving through a concentred flow of exercise and movement. Each Fitness Class integrates
mind-body techniques including breathing, concentrated stretching to enhance movement and focus, spinal alignment based on Pilates and Alexander Technique, muscle work and cardio-dance bringing the body into a state of balance in addition to increasing aerobic capacity, muscle strength, balance, posture and bone density. Students are encouraged to aim for submersion in the technique with an awareness of releasing any tension by taking a moment to do some deep core breathing. For example, after concentrating on isolation exercises for a particular muscle or set of muscles, diaphramatic breathing (belly breathing) and core/centering exercises might be given. Diaphramatic breathing brings the breath deep into the core and creates a relaxation response. Weights, balls, bands,
rings and hoops are used. In addition classes such as Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Dance classes are integrated into the overall Mind-Body format and Holistic Nutritional Programs are available to support health, weight loss and integrative wellness. Clients are given exceptionally personal attention and encouragement to strive towards their physical-mental potential as they are offered evidence-based and cutting edge techniques with special attention to safety.
